Flu Vaccination

Each year the NHS prepares for the unpredictability of flu. For most healthy people, flu is an unpleasant but usually self-limiting disease with recovery generally within a week.

Flu vaccination provides the best protection against an unpredictable virus that infects many people and can cause serious illness and death each year.

The vaccination is free and recommended yearly for those most at risk from flu.

This includes:

  • all children aged 2 or 3 years on 31 August 2025
  • pregnant women
  • anyone living with a long term medical condition
  • everyone aged 65 and over
  • people with caring responsibilities

If there is someone you rely on to care for you, please ask them to contact their own GP Practice as they may be eligible for a free flu vaccination.

Please contact your surgery to book an appointment for your flu vaccination. To help us maintain your healthcare records, we strongly recommend that you have your flu jab done at the surgery.

Pregnant women and all eligible children aged 2 or 3 years on 31 August 2025, will start to be invited from 15th September 2025

All other adult flu cohorts will start from 1 October 2025 and will run until the 31 March 2026.

If you are unsure if you qualify for the flu vaccination please see our leaflet.
